The First Methodist Church’s Childcare is currently accepting applications for Childcare Director. The director of this program will work with parents, teachers, and the local community to provide a safe, Christian environment for children to learn and be cared for spiritually, physically and mentally.
The director is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the childcare. This includes: leading and supervising staff to ensure the needs of children and families are met; Assisting the Lead Teacher in curriculum planning and being responsible for curriculum oversight; Working with the Assistant Director to ensure all state requirements are maintained and kept up to date, all paperwork is properly recorded, filed, and reported as is required by the North Carolina Division of Development and Early Education; Maintaining proper financial records and working with the church treasurer to execute payroll, billing, budgeting; Communicating effectively and regularly with parents/guardians; Other duties include maintaining policies established by the church governing body, upholding the reputation of the program as an affordable, high-quality program in the community.Our center supports learning for children from 6 weeks to 5 years old.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Childcare Director must have a team like attitude and passion for God’s mission and ministry with children and families. He/she will work in collaboration with the Assistant Director, Lead Teachers, Staff, Pastor, Church Treasurer and Childcare Board to ensure successful operational management, including curriculum development, lesson planning, supervision, and management of full and part time employees.

- Bachelor’s degree or CDA certification
- Understanding of Growth & Development for Children
- Proven experience working with children and families
- Leadership and organizational skills
- High sense of Responsibility and motivation
- Flexible and Team oriented
- Excellent Time Management and Problem-Solving Skills, Personnel Management and Conflict Resolution
- Strong verbal and written communication skill
- Maintain professional conduct and attitudes in working with parents and staff as well as with visitors and the general public.
- Maintain strict child and parent confidentiality.
- Acceptable background checks and health screenings
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Safe Sanctuary certification
- Overseeing operations including licensing, quality assurance, facility operations and educational excellence.
- Developing strong relationships with staff and families
- Maintaining a positive and upbeat attitude while working in a fast-paced environment
- Prioritizing and organizing daily activities for maximum effectiveness
- Demonstrating a deep love for children and a strong commitment to education
- Be a member in good standing of a church and regularly attend.
- Exhibit a positive Biblical role model at all times.
- Be 21 years of age or older.
- Have knowledge of child development as evidenced by professional references, education experience, and on-the-job performance.
- Have planning, coordinating, and supervisory skills to implement a high quality, developmentally appropriate program.
- Maintain current First Aid and CPR certification, TB skin test, and HIV/AIDS training and a one-time only TB test at initial employment.
The Childcare Director will be on site at the childcare 30-40 hours per week, based on the needs of the childcare, as determined by the Childcare Board.
