Primary Purpose
The Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis contributes to the financial planning and budgeting processes, analyzing financial statements and reports, developing financial models, preparing projections, and performing research and analysis as may be required by leadership.The Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis is also responsible for providing project teams with financial guidance and assisting with monthly close processes.
Responsibilities:
- Manages the Financial Planning and Analysis team, including training, developing, coaching, mentoring and performance management.
- Prepares and analyzes periodic management reporting of financial results for assigned areas.
- Leads meetings with business owners over their monthly financials, including asking questions regarding variances between budget/forecast and actuals.
- Supports the company-wide annual planning process and subsequent quarterly forecasting process.
- Analyzes and delivers budget/forecast variances and organizational impacts each month.
- Assists with the consolidation and review of the 13-week cash flow.
- Performs ad hoc financial analysis of existing business or new opportunities and offers recommendations.
- Works with finance operations on forecasting, pipeline management, metrics and other reporting requirements.
- Performs biweekly scrubs of the current backlog/revenue and provides updates to management versus the most recent forecast.
- Assists the Vice President, Corporate Controller with lender reporting and lender paperwork.
- Identifies and tracks key indicators to monitor organization performance and prepare competitive analysis and benchmarking.
- Reviews and analyzes financial statements and reports.
- Delivers ad hoc reports and analyses as requested.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration required with a minimum 5 years of experience in financial planning and analysis, cost control or related role.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Excel (v/h-lookups, pivot tables, formulas, complex reporting and modeling).
- Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and related business systems – Deltek and MS Dynamics a plus.
- Experience with financial modeling and scenario analysis- for project accounting and new business estimations.
- Previous management experience preferred.
- Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment.
- Self-driven, highly motivated, and committed to improvement, inter-team communication skills and attention to details.
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills; proven ability to present information to all levels of management.
- Ability to present financial information and models in a concise and easily comprehensible manner.
- Initiative with the commitment and ability to meet monthly closing and forecasting deadlines.
