Weekend Associate Producer, Short-form Video, NBC News Digital
NBC News Digital Video Productions is seeking a creative journalist to produce, script, shoot and edit news stories for its short-form video team, dayside Wednesday through Sunday. Responsibilities include but are not limited to creating original social videos for NBC News and our Gen Z news brand Stay Tuned; helping evolve the overall social video presence of these news brands with a focus on vertical video for TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat and the NBC News app, and other potentially emerging platforms; identifying key news moments and figuring out the best companion vertical video.
This position is located in New York and represented by the News Guild – NY CWA.
Responsibilities- Follow the biggest news stories and latest developments around them for possible vertical video treatment
- Stay abreast of stories being pursued across NBC News platforms and shows and spot opportunities in vertical video around planned or developing coverage
- Pitch, research, shoot, and edit original social video for NBC News and Stay Tuned across various social platforms including Snapchat, YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram
- Collaborate with other producers, reporters, editors and correspondents to bring stories to life
- Experiment with new formats native to each social platform
- Stay up to date on important news stories and stay true to our news standards
- Have a pulse on what trends are percolating on social platforms
- 1 or more years of producing, shooting, and editing social video
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of relevant working experience
- Fluent in the culture of social media and online communities – especially TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and Snapchat
- An understanding of social analytics tools
- Experience shooting on iPhone for social
- Proven proficiency in Adobe Premiere and social in-app editing tools
- Willingness to occasionally work extended hours based on news demands and deadlines
- Flexibility to respond to breaking news situations outside of regular working hours
- Ability to absorb feedback on content performance
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and juggle multiple projects at once
- Ability to pivot quickly to breaking news assignments and adjust priorities as needed
- Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
Salary range: $65,000- $80,000
