Starr Regional Medical Center Athens
Starr Regional Medical Center is currently seeking talent to fill the position of Nurse Tech for our Women’s Department. This job is permanent, PRN.
Core competencies include, but are not limited to the following:
- Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possibly taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output.
- Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living, including but not limited to bathing, grooming, eating, and ambulation.
- Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
- Assists with keeping patient rooms and common areas stocked, clean and orderly.
- Provides appropriate and accurate specimen collections and care of patients based on individual needs.
- Ensures that all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information is obtained and entered in the registration system with timeliness and accuracy.
- Distributes and explains forms, documents, and educational handouts to patients or family members.
- Meets with patient or patient's caregiver before or after admission to exchange necessary information and documentation. Provides explanation of process and addresses concerns and questions.
- Communicates with admitting physician's office, nursing unit staff, and/or other appropriate personnel regarding admission to exchange necessary information and determine placement.
- Verifies insurance benefits and obtains precertification/authorization as necessary. Determines and accepts required payments, including co-pays and deductibles, or refers to financial counselors for follow up.

Minimum Education
HS Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience Preferred X Required
