Senior Property Accountant

We are seeking a Senior Property Accountant for our team near Trophy Club, Texas. This is a 3 month contract, working a hybrid schedule of 3 days onsite, 2 remote. The selected candidate will be instrumental in the financial accounting and reporting of our business operations, including tenant ledger management, tax compliance, financial analysis, and compliance with industry regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
- Oversee rent collection processes and ensure timely collection of rent and other property-related income
- Maintain and reconcile accounts receivable ledgers
- Prepare and file property tax returns and other required tax documents, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations
- Maintain accurate tenant ledgers, including rent payments, security deposits, and other charges
- Handle tenant inquiries and disputes related to financial matters
- Conduct financial analysis to evaluate property performance and profitability, providing recommendations for improving financial performance and reducing costs
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards, preparing and submitting required regulatory reports
- Calculate, allocate, and invoice Common Area Maintenance (CAM) charges to tenants based on lease agreements, monitoring and tracking CAM expenses to ensure proper allocation and recovery
- Perform annual CAM reconciliations to compare actual expenses with amounts billed to tenants, adjusting tenant accounts as necessary and communicating any discrepancies or adjustments to tenants.
- Proficient in Account Reconciliation
- Experience with Balance Sheet Reconciliation
- Ability to perform Bank Reconciliations
- Solid understanding of General Ledger management
- Proficiency in creating Journal Entries
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of Month End Close processes
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (Master's preferred)
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification is preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
