ROLE SUMMARY
The Project Manager for Resorts at Merlin will lead the delivery of large-scale capital projects exceeding $1.5M for LEGOLAND California. This role ensures successful project execution on time, within budget, and aligned with brand standards.You will oversee multiple projects simultaneously, working collaboratively with internal teams and external contractors to achieve feasibility, cost, and planning objectives.
The position demands strategic thinking, financial expertise, and strong problem-solving skills, with a focus on risk management, innovation, and safety compliance. You will partner closely with the Project Director, Park Management, and external stakeholders, driving efficiency and value throughout the project lifecycle.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Project Delivery and Oversight- Manage multiple complex projects from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and brand standards.
- Coordinate with internal and external teams to maintain clear communication and effective execution.
- Oversee feasibility studies, cost analysis, and planning for each project, maximizing value within budget constraints.
- Monitor and control project budgets, ensuring cost efficiency and minimizing overspend.
- Implement value engineering techniques to optimize resources and reduce costs without compromising quality.
- Prepare accurate budget forecasts and financial reports in collaboration with the finance team.
- Cultivate strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Creative Directors, consultants, and contractors.
- Provide regular updates to the Project Director and senior management on progress, milestones, and challenges.
- Manage client expectations and maintain open, positive communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure all project policies, procedures, and safety standards are rigorously followed.
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks that could affect project delivery.
- Guarantee compliance with local authority regulations, planning restrictions, and legal requirements.
- Oversee external contractors and suppliers, ensuring high-quality delivery and cost-effectiveness.
- Engage professional advisors and contractors to meet project specifications.
- Foster collaboration between internal teams and external partners for cohesive project execution.
- Promote a “safety-first” culture, prioritizing risk assessments and safe working practices.
- Ensure adherence to the company’s Health, Safety, and Security Policy.
- Regularly review and report risks, hazards, and incidents, ensuring timely resolution and compliance.
Qualifications & Experience:
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in project management, ideally managing large-scale capital projects.
- Proven success delivering projects with budgets exceeding $1.5M.
- Experience in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment, ideally within the theme park, construction, or entertainment industries.
- Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Familiarity with local authority regulations, planning restrictions, and construction standards.
- Experience managing procurement contracts and collaborating with external contractors and consultants.
