Hispanic Ministry Coordinator

Position Summary:

Working with the Parochial Vicar, this position coordinates Hispanic meetings and events of the parish.

Key responsibilities:

• Accepts requests for Spanish baptisms gathering all necessary paperwork and following proper procedures.
• Provides information in Spanish about Faith Formation or sacraments of initiation.
• Assists with Spanish Announcements, Social Media, and Spanish bulletin announcements.
• Facilitates Spanish requests for Anointings, Funerals, and House Blessings with the Parochial Vicar.
• Assists with organizing Hispanic Ministry meetings and events with the Parochial Vicar.
• Coordinates Safe Environment training for Hispanic volunteers.
• Assists in communication between Spanish-speaking parishioners and other members of the staff, acting as an interpreter.
• Provides updates to the Pastor on Hispanic Ministry activities.
• Provides regular communication and follow-up to volunteer coordinators in the Hispanic Ministry.
• Participates in staff meetings.
• Answers the phone and covers the reception desk as needed.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

• Must be bilingual with strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish.
• Must be an active, fully-initiated, practicing Catholic.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Google products.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
• Team-oriented - ability to work toward parish and staff goals.
• Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Employment is contingent upon the applicant satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks.
• Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of Catholic sacraments and sacramental living.
• Experience in an educational setting and/or catechetical experience.
• Experience in basic data management, project planning, and time management.
• Experience in recruiting, motivating, and mobilizing volunteers.
