Overview:
Position Description SummaryThe General Inspector will be supporting of Capital Improvement Aviation Programs.
Responsibilities:
Essential Job Duties
General Inspector:- A good knowledge and ability to inspect the construction of airport and public building facilities, which may include steel and concrete structures, architectural finishes and components, and other construction related to the airport terminal operations to ensure conformance with safety regulations, plans, specifications and other applicable documents.
- A good knowledge of LA City Building codes and ADA requirements including door & hardware inspection and extensive experience in generating punch list including sign-off of punch list.
- ICC certifications and SSW & DIA Deputy Inspector Licenses required.
- Familiar with safety requirements including but is not limited to lock out tag out procedures, Cal OSHA, NFPA 80, LAWA Safety Requirements.
- Received training in the use of fall protection equipment and other personal protective equipment including Cal OSHA training.
- Flexible in working at different shift schedules (day, swing and graveyard), and is available to work overtime and on weekends as needed.
- Self-motivated individual who can research pertinent requirements not readily available – submittals, RFIs, LADBS Code, specs, etc.
- Ability to read, interpret, and explain plans and Specifications and inspect accordingly.
- Ability to walk several miles during the shift, including use of stairs, ladders, scaffolding, and crawling associated with the work being observed.
- Ability to write clear and effective reports and is capable of working with Microsoft Office and other computer software and applications including Prolog & VEO.
- Ability to make decisions and work effectively without close supervision.
- Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with LAWA stakeholders, contractors, construction workers and the public.
- Ability to set priorities for taking timely action to gain compliance with construction and safety requirements.
- The candidate should pass the federal background check
Qualifications:
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education Level:
- High school diploma (or equivalent).
Professional Licenses & Certification:
- 30-hour Cal-OSHA training prior to assignment. The 30-hour training will have been received within the last 4 years.
Minimum Years and Experience:
- 5 years or more of experience performing as a LADBS Deputy Building Inspector large scale Public Works type projects.

Wage Data Per State Requirements:
Pay range for this position is $65.90/hr - $80.50/hr. The starting pay will be commensurate with skill, education, experience, and working environment.
