Construction Project Coordinator - Okemos

Overview:

The Construction Project Coordinator works as part of a multi-disciplinary project team supporting various design teams with construction administration, construction observation, scheduling and coordination, review of construction related documents and communication.

Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and problem solves site construction issues.
  • Monitors construction progress for compliance with codes, permit conditions and contract documents.
  • Attends various meetings as needed related to construction projects.
  • Assists in answering inquiries and complaints from residents or community members.
  • Obtains measurements and reports progress information, including the location on site, within the Inspector's Daily Report (IDR).
  • Assists in coordinating construction materials testing with company staff.
  • Assists in communicating/coordinating potential problems with the contractor and project engineer prior to delays occurring.
  • Keeps project engineer and supervisor informed of progress of project on a consistent basis.
  • Communicates professionally with contractors, county or municipal inspectors and staff.
  • Reviews pay applications and confirms quantities and/or the percentage of completion values being requested are accurate.
  • Reviews and responses to change orders from contractors.
  • Issues Field Change Directives to contractors.
  • Implements company mandated safety policies.
  • Reviews and responses to bid questions and Request for Information from contractors.
  • Assists Project Manager with tracking budgets, schedules and reporting progress.
  • Coordinates communications between project team members.
  • Coordinates project related matters between internal and external project teams.
  • Organizes resource data; i.e. project drawings, specifications, reports and records.
  • Attends project meetings and prepares meeting notes, project status summaries, and other written materials as needed.
  • Assists in coordination of PEA Group’s QM program for projects.
  • Tracks project progress and maintains records, including: equipment and material submittals, etc.
  • Adheres to safety protocols and procedures outlined by PEA Group.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Formal Education, Licenses and Certifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or other related discipline or associate’s degree and related construction experience or equivalent.
Knowledge and Experience
  • 10 years of construction experience in the A|E|C industry.
  • Knowledge of engineering design and construction process.
  • Working knowledge of typical computer software programs used for civil engineering design and management (AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, etc.)

Work is performed mostly in office settings. Some outdoor work is required in the inspection of various land use developments, construction sites or public works facilities. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate drafting instruments, computers and various pieces of office equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds.

Availability

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Travel

Limited travel to construction sites is expected for this position.
