JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Assistant Director for Continuing Student Experience will be charged with developing and implementing a programming and support strategy for Oxford College sophomores as they return to the campus for their second year. In collaboration with colleagues across departments, this position will create, plan, and execute programs and projects to 1) build affinity, 2) build relationships and community, and 3) provide resources and information.
- Plans and executes large-scale events aimed at the sophomore class throughout the semester.
- Collaborates with colleagues in the division to provide programs that offer regular, low-stakes programming for students to make connections.
- Oversees programming calendar and logistics, such as budget, space reservations, catering, and supply ordering.
- Collaborates with the Orientation Committee to connect events, themes, and programs, while specifically catering to the sophomore experience (like Candlelight Procession, Coke Toast, etc).
- Collaborates with the International Student Programs office to provide overlapping programs and support for our International student population.
- Creates assessment plan tied to programming to include satisfaction, attendance, and feedback from participants.
- Oversees welcome program for small cohort students admitted in January.
- Connects resource documents and information to provide students with a 'one-stop-shop' for campus resources.
- Supports ongoing SIL initiatives (like staffing leadership retreats and supporting student leader training).
- Performs other related duties as required.
ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:
The Assistant Director of the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership Transitions (The Assistant Director for Continuing Student Experience) reports to the Director of SILT and is charged with developing and implementing a programming and support strategy for Oxford College sophomores as they return to the campus for their second year.
- Recruits, hires, trains, and supervises our Orientation Leaders, a group of student leaders hired to support new student transitions to campus during summer onboarding, pre-orientation, new student orientation, and weeks of welcome.
- Serves as a member of the ATLBound committee, an initiative with the goal of providing second-year students a smooth transition from Oxford College to the Atlanta campus.
- Plans and executes large-scale events aimed at the sophomore class throughout the year, particularly in their second semester.
- Develops a robust second-year experience program that aims to provide support and guidance to students during their sophomore year, helping them celebrate a countdown to their Oxford graduation, navigate the transition from foundational courses to more focused major studies, make informed decisions about their academic path, explore career options, and address any concerns about the transition to the Atlanta campus.
- Oversees programming calendar and logistics, such as budget, space reservations, catering, and supply ordering.
- Collaborates with the Orientation Committee to connect events, themes, and programs, while specifically catering to the sophomore experience (like Candlelight Procession, Coke Toast, etc).
- Collaborates with the International Student Programs office to provide overlapping programs and support for our International student population.

- Oversees transition program for the cohort of London Start first-year students who will need additional support transitioning back to Oxford College in their first year, second semester when they return.

- Supports ongoing SILT initiatives (like staffing leadership retreats and supporting student leader training).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A master's degree and two years of experience in a higher education setting, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Five years of related professional experience, particularly in areas of leadership development, transition programs, and student activities.
NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
