STEP User Experience Developer Intern
Position Description :
Serco’s Training and Experience Program (STEP) is designed to provide undergraduate university and college students paid accredited internship opportunities to gain meaningful, hands-on work experience in a professional environment. Our goal is to help you build a career roadmap that provides you with challenging and rewarding learning experiences with Serco.Our 2024 internship opportunities are available throughout the U.S. and Canada, beginning on May 27^th and concluding on August 8^th, with 1 week off June 30^th – July 4th. You will work with your manager to identify the best working schedule for you, working no more than an average of 36 hours a week with the added perk of half-days on Fridays.
Serco offers an exciting internship opportunity to our Consultancy+ Facilities and Asset Management (FAM) Technology team. The intern will use their technology skills in developing new User Experience interfaces for our customers. The FAM Intern will work remotely or out of our Herndon, VA headquarters.This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is innovative and driven by digital transformation concepts.
In addition to gaining hands-on experience, you will attend training sessions taught by skilled leaders in our company to better prepare you for a full-time career. Furthermore, we believe great ideas come from all levels of the company! Each year we challenge our interns to work in diverse teams to develop, propose and execute on a project that improves our ways of working.Throughout this project you will work with Senior Sponsors and meet with members of our Executive Team.

If your answer to these questions is “Yes,” the User Experience Developer Intern position is an excellent opportunity for you! You will help streamline Serco’s. You will be supporting our Developer team as we create new mobile applications to meet our customers needs.
In this role, you will:
- Assists in compiling User Experience requirements using wire frame mock up tools such as Figma.
- Works with senior developers to design and analyze solutions to improve the User Experience via front end development tools.
- Produces static and dynamic data visualizations to communicate with a wide range of audiences to describe and document the user experience solutions
- Attends customer meetings and generates documentation inputs to present solutions and receive feedback from the proposed solutions.
- Participates in the development cycle to test and receive customer acceptance from the solutions.
Qualifications :
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Preferred fields of study: Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a related field of study.
- Ideal candidates are rising sophomores, juniors, seniors, or Spring 2024 graduates.
This role is also suited for the following skills:
- Basic graphical interface coding language understanding
- Familiarity with React or Polymer User Interface Development.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
