Summary:
The Seasonal Part-Time Snow Dump Truck Driver is responsible for plowing snow and spreading salt and de-icer on federal, state and local jobs located in Maryland, Washington DC, and Virginia.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plow snow from interstates, highways and other thoroughfares within the DC-MD-NoVA region,
- Spread salt and/or de-icer before snowfall as required to maintain safe, passable roadways,
- Clear snow from sites from designated areas,
- Pile snow in designated and approved locations only,
- Maintains clean and ready to go equipment needed for snow removal,
- Monitor weather conditions and respond to snow removal requests in a timely manner,
- Maintain and perform minor repairs including preventive maintenance and changing plow blades to plow trucks and snow removal equipment,
- Report any accidents, incidents and equipment failures to supervisor immediately,
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of plow trucks and snow removal equipment,
- May be required to work extended hours including evenings, nights and weekends,
- Must be able to work overnights and have ability to stay in hotels within DC-MD-NoVA region during snow or ice storms,
- Additional duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Possess a valid and current Class A/B CDL,
- Previous experience one (1) year operating dump truck with manual or automatic transmissions,
- Must possess one (1) year of experience on major roadways during inclement weather, such as snow and ice storms with operating a snow plow and spreader,
- Strong understanding of snow removal services and vehicle safety,
- Ability to work in cold weather conditions for extended periods of time,
- Excellent observation skills and a strong attention to detail,
- Effective communication skills,
- COVID-19 vaccination is highly recommended,
- Must be able to successfully pass a background and drug screening.
