PC Technician

We are offering a short-term contract employment opportunity for a PC Technician within an Education - University setting, based in Tampa, Florida. The role primarily involves providing technical support for hardware, software, and end-user inquiries.

The individual will also be responsible for supporting academic system software on various devices and updating trouble tickets in the Desktop support database.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support for hardware and software issues primarily through in-person interactions, with phone, chat, and email interactions as secondary methods.
  • Enter and update trouble tickets in the Desktop support database promptly and accurately.
  • Support academic system software residing on local user PC’s, smart devices, tablets, and networked devices.
  • Utilize skills in Microsoft, Networking, Operating System, Active Directory, Computer Hardware, Configuration Management, Deployments, Deskside Support, Mac OS, Tablet Devices, and Smart devices.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot client issues via multiple contact methods.
  • Learn and adapt to a dynamic technical environment.
  • Exhibit excellent time management skills.
  • Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Maintain strong communication skills with fellow coworkers, management, and other groups within the Information Technology department.
  • Function effectively with a diverse team with a large workload. • Proven experience as a PC Technician or similar role within the education sector, preferably in a university setting.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft products, including operating systems and software.
  • Familiarity with different operating systems including Windows, Mac OS and others.
  • Experience with Active Directory and the ability to manage user accounts effectively.
  • Proficiency in networking and configuration management.
  • Technical knowledge and understanding of computer hardware, including the ability to troubleshoot and repair issues.
  • Experience with deployments and providing deskside support for users.
  • Ability to work with tablet devices and smart devices, providing technical support and guidance.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues in a clear and understandable way.
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+ or Microsoft Certified: IT Professional would be advantageous.
  • Willingness to stay updated with technology trends and developments.
