The Mental Health Clinician conducts assessments and provides therapy to all inmates residing in the mental health day treatment program at the Worcester County House of Corrections.
Minimum Education Required: Master's Degree
Shift: First Shift
Additional Shift Details: Monday - Friday 8-4
Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group therapy to inmates who have been diagnosed with a severe and persistent mental illness
- Respond to crisis calls from jail staff and/or family members
- Maintain necessary documentation to include assessments, therapy notes, file notes, and treatment plans. Completing documentation in a timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with all statutes, regulations and contractual requirements related to mental health care and substance use treatment within the jail.
- Attend and actively participate in supervision and staff meetings
- Attend trainings as assigned
- Perform all duties in accordance with the agency’s policies and procedures
- Adhere to all Advocates Way principles

Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling Psychology, or related counseling field
- License-eligible in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling; current independent license is preferred
- Must have working knowledge of current version of the American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.
- Demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving culturally diverse populations.
- Ability to read and write English.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Sensitivity to the needs of the population.
- Ability to thrive in team-oriented environment.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
- Outstanding reasoning and problem-solving abilities.
- Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Must pass all background checks as required for position.
