Warehouse Manager
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the effective management of warehouse activities for the Ithaca facility and for all warehouse activities in all locations.
Nature and Scope
The Warehouse Manager reports to the Director of Operations. Reporting to this position is a stockroom leader, and various other department clerks.Through subordinate staff, the Warehouse Manager oversees the activities of the warehouse and is responsible for staffing and the assignment of duties. In this regard, this position interfaces regularly with contacts internal and external to the organization to ensure coordination of warehouse activities with other activities such as production, accounting, sales, records control and purchasing.
Internally, this position interfaces with personnel from the following departments: operations, quality control (inspection), purchasing, sales, customer service, engineering, and remote operations managers. External to the organization, the incumbent may interface with vendors, customers, and consultants.
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily administration and operation of the stockroom and receiving areas. As such, this role supervises assigned staff to receive materials, equipment, and similar items. This position supervises the storing of materials in bins, on floors, or on shelves in a convenient and orderly fashion for removal when needed.Oversee cycle counting and ensures articles are marked or tagged.
The Warehouse Manager spends considerable time on managing inventory-controlled matters such as cycle counting, recounting, auditing, reconciling , tracking parts and dealing with a host of other inventory-related problems.The Warehouse Manager coordinates, provides leadership to, and reviews the work of assigned staff. As such, the incumbent plans day-to-day departmental operations. Develops and implements work methods, authorizes overtime, controls costs, and recommends changes in methods and procedures in areas under his/her purview.
There are many challenges tied to this position, including the constant need to reconcile actual material counts within ERP. Another major and constant challenge is keeping production going by making sure the required materials are available and in place for use by production personnel.
The Warehouse Manager is expected to consult with his/her manager on issues/situations of importance.Essential Functions:-Manages the warehouse to ensure receipt, co-ordination and safety of goods coming into the warehouse.-Effectively manages the warehouse in activities such as verification of incoming shipments, handling and disposition of materials and keeping warehouse inventory current.-Effectively manages timely and accurate order processing in an efficient manner.-Confers with other department managers to ensure coordination of warehouse activities with other activities such as production, sales, records control and purchasing.-Oversee the orderly storing of materials in bins, on floors, or on shelves and ensure they can be conveniently retrieved.-Oversee the requisition of materials and keeps records of items issued and received.-Develop and implement cost effective solutions which improve stockroom and receiving operations.-Partners with the IT Department in designing new process development solutions in Oracle to support the overall Operations function.-Regular attendance in the office.
Qualifications:- The Warehouse Manager should possess some college education or equivalent and a minimum of five years' related experience, including supervision.
- Also, should possess sound knowledge of the storeroom and receiving operations, quality and inventory control systems.
- This position must be computer literate and be proficient with an ERP system such as and manifest software.
- Must have excellent communication skills, oral and written, and solid organizational and planning skills.
