Senior Accountant
Overview:
Planned Systems International (PSI) is an Enterprise IT services company who focuses on designing, building, securing, and operating cutting-edge software solutions that drive mission success and operational excellence for Federal Government organizations.We are currently seeking a Senior Accountant with a strong background in payroll, GL reconciliation, cash receipt posting, and bank reconciliation in a government contracting environment to support our Financial Management team.
Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Oversee the month-end closing process, including reconciliations, journal entries, and accruals.
- Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts and ensure integrity in the general ledger.
- Provide support during internal and external audits, ensuring that documentation and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
- Perform financial analysis and variance reporting on monthly, quarterly, and annual performance.
- Assist with tax filings and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Monitor and analyze contract revenue and expenses for variances.
- Review and analyze actual contract performance against budgets and forecasts.
- Prepare bank reconciliation and record cash receipts.
- Manage the calculation of indirect rates and overhead allocations.
- Establish, document, and maintain internal controls related to government contracts.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and compliance.
- Ensure compliance with government regulations (e.g., FAR, CAS, DCAA).
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in accounting, preferably with a government contract industry background.
- In-depth knowledge of FAR, CAS, DCAA regulations, and GAAP.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with financial systems, such as Deltek Costpoint or similar government contract accounting software.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong sense of ethics and integrity.
