Job description
POSITION OVERVIEW:Under supervision of the Program Director, the Cook is responsible for food preparation and meal planning for kitchen at the Program. This position will adhere to all policies, procedures and regulations set forth to ensure client safety and compliance.

The pay is $15.80 - 21.00/hr (depending on experience)
KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Reviews menus and assembles supplies and equipment for daily food preparationFollows nutritional guidelines when preparing mealsParticipates in the preparation and presentation of food/beverages for all special functionsAssures food is ready for service at the specified service timesAttends and participates in staff meetingsPractices proper storage techniques, i.e. wraps, dates, labels, rotates, all food items after use, following the F.I.F.O. methodObtains necessary items to meet cook's needsPrepares and cooks breakfast, lunch, and dinner each dayPrepares all weekend meals during the week so that minimal prep time is required during the weekendAssists residents in developing and increasing skills associated with independent food shoppingEnsures that all ovens, stoves, steamers, etc.are emptied and turned offOrganizes refrigerator, freezer and storage areasMaintains work areas in a clean, sanitary and safe conditionHandles food and equipment in accordance with the regulatory agencies and H.A.C.C.P guidelinesOther duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:High School Diploma/GED required, Associate Degree preferredFood Handlers certificate requiredAbility to work within a team of professionals in a culturally diverse environmentAbility to multitask and to work and function independentlyBilingual Spanish Required
