Job Description:

Function of Position:

Reporting directly to the Provost and Vice President of Academic & Student Affairs (ASA), the Assistant to the Provost (A2VP) will play a key role in supporting the strategic goals of the division. As a member of the Academic & Student Affairs Leadership Council, the A2VP is responsible for managing high-level communications and providing project management expertise for various initiatives that support the academic and operational priorities of the college.

This includes drafting official communications, leading key projects, and ensuring the successful execution of ongoing and planned initiatives. The A2VP will collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators across the college, promoting a positive and inclusive environment aligned with the institution's mission, vision, and goals.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Communications Support: Prepare and disseminate internal and external communications related to divisional operations, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with the college's strategic goals. Draft official correspondence and documents for the Provost/VP, including committee charges, internal communications, and public statements on key issues. Create written and visual materials for presentations, conferences, town halls, and other high-profile events, such as end-of-year ceremonies.
  • Project Management: Lead and manage cross-divisional projects and initiatives on behalf of the Provost/VP, ensuring coordination and timely completion of initiatives that advance the ASA priorities and the College's strategic plan and mission.
  • Data-Informed Leadership: Liaise with the Office of Institutional Research to prepare and present data-driven recommendations for improved student and institutional outcomes.
  • Grant-Funded Project Coordination: Partner with ASA's Senior Budget Specialist and other ASA stakeholders, in collaboration with the Office of Strategic Resource Development & Grant Management, to ensure that grant-funded projects are executed in a timely and effective manner. Assist in the design, development, and articulation of priority projects for the division that may benefit from grant funding.
  • Collaboration: Work across College divisions and with key stakeholders to promote student success and foster a culture of respect, communication, and collaboration.
  • Divisional Assessment: Lead divisional assessment projects to ensure ASA strategic priorities are effective and aligned with the College's strategic plan.
  • Committee Service: Serve as the Provost/VP's representative on select committees and workgroups.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the Provost/VP or other division leaders.
