Associate Director, New Product Marketing

With the recent FDA approval and availability in the U.S. of RADICAVA® (edaravone), is rapidly expanding our operation across all functional areas to launch additional new products in the U.S. and Canada markets. Concurrently, the company is expanding its research efforts and exploring collaborations with partners to discover and bring treatments to market for unmet medical needs including orphan diseases.

The Associate Director, New Product Marketing is responsible for developing and leading a comprehensive marketing plan and leading a strategic, tactical and execution plan for RADICAVA®, an innovative solution for patients suffering from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) as well as ND0612 for Parkinson’s Disease.

This position will have significant involvement with senior leadership, given the prominence and importance of this launch for Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma America. Duties:

  • Develop the strategic, tactical and execution plan for New Products in the US. Execute pre-launch and launch plans seamlessly to meet or exceed launch plan objectives.
  • Complete key marketing planning projects as needed for new assets for future Oral Radicava Formulation and ND0612 for Parkinson’s Disease such as positioning, messaging, imagery, trademarks, targeting, etc.
  • Lead a cross-functional team to make sure that projects on the critical path stay on track and contingencies are made for any risks to the critical path.
  • Leverage in-depth experience and existing relationships working with vendors to write vendor contracts which are sensitive to bottom-line profitability.
  • Develops marketing materials with the Agency of Record (AOR) and works diligently within established internal processes to secure Medical, Legal, and Regulatory approval of all pieces.
  • Attends industry events, as required, and effectively represents the company to a broad audience including patients, caregivers, advocates and HCPs.
  • Based on initial research and analysis, and drawing on extensive marketing experience, makes initial business recommendations/presentations to Marketing team, and potentially to other stakeholders, to win buy-in and promote continuous improvement.
  • Provides ongoing measurement against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) with recommendations for improvement/optimization.
  • Work with cross functional teams to create effective, positive partnerships with peers and key internal/ external stakeholders and ensure alignment of business needs and objectives.
  • Leverage existing industry contacts which advance the company’s position in the marketplace and establish the framework for New Product Marketing initiatives
  • Ensure that all contracts and alliances are negotiated and executed according to the plan and in compliance with all applicable policies and regulations.
  • Analyze individual companies and market trends. Proactively seek out and evaluate new data sources, tools, and analytics to help improve brand performance, and identify/incorporate industry best practices.
  • Perform company-specific and product-specific desktop research to further inform commercial assessments; support the development/analysis of tailored external market research through third parties.
  • Develop key analyses and presentations for senior leadership and other stakeholders in support of business development/commercialization planning investment decisions.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • MBA or MS preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in the Pharmaceutical/Biotech industry in Marketing, Managed Markets, Sales, or Business Development, preferably in both small and large companies, and which included supervisory experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in New Product or Inline Marketing.
  • Recent in-depth experience with Orphan Drug patient marketing in the Neurology/CNS market space preferred.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute a strategic and tactical marketing plan, develop an accurate launch forecast and to lead a comprehensive launch planning and execution process.
  • Possess existing strong relationships and positive reputation with a broad group of vendors and agencies, including advertising agencies, medical education, digital media, DTC advertising, patient education and a track record of successfully leveraging agencies to maximize efficiency and brand performance.
  • General knowledge of commercial agreements and intellectual property issues.
  • Leads by example, displaying integrity, collaboration, accessibility, adaptability, sound judgment/decision making, and an entrepreneurial, solutions-oriented attitude.
  • Demonstrates responsiveness, attention to detail, and follow-through coupled with ability to prioritize/multi-task effectively.
  • Use analytical/strategic skills to synthesize complex information, distill critical insights to inform commercial assessments, and translate to tactical level.
  • Outstanding business case development skills, financial acumen and budget management skills.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Highly proficient in MS Office; skilled at using Excel to develop pharmaceutical product forecast models and quantitative analyses.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the Pharma industry, broad therapeutic areas/disease states, drugs/treatments, and related regulatory, commercialization and compliance requirements.
  • Willingness to travel 20% domestically and internationally for business and project meetings as required.
