Responsibilities:
As a Field Service Technician | Electrical Team, you will travel to Hamilton Storage Customer sites for new installation and trainings for 2-6 weeks at a time. Hamilton Storage Customers are located throughout the Continental United States. Once the initial set-up and training is complete you will return to the Franklin, MA facility and resume normal field service duties and responsibilities.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare electrical documents, hardware, and systems for shipment.
- Perform mechanical, electromechanical, and electrical assembly on-site during installation.
- Install and terminate cable assemblies based on schematics and drawings.
- Troubleshoot wiring and mechanical issues.
- Assist with module integration.
- Conduct initial power-on inspections, testing, and checks.
- Test and validate system and subassembly performance at ambient and -20°C.
- Document and communicate work performed to prepare for the commissioning phase.
- Act as the primary onsite contact for third parties.
- Perform repairs and adjustments as needed.
- Provide system reliability feedback to Hamilton HQ.
- Use various electronic and mechanical test equipment.
- Submit paperwork and expenses promptly.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams like R&D, Customer Service, Product Management, Manufacturing, and Sales.
- Adhere to ISO and Health & Safety procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Up to 50% domestic and international travel is expected. Travel will consist of 2–6-week durations (including weekends).
Qualifications:
- Strong commitment to customer, sales, and service support, with a proactive approach to resolving instrument-related issues.
- Positive attitude and receptive to constructive feedback.
- Comfortable working in confined spaces and attentive to surroundings.
- Experienced in handling live and wired systems safely.
- Solid understanding of system mechanics, electronics, sensors, motors, power distribution, configurations, and backups.
- Proficient in reading schematics and assembly drawings.
- Excellent customer-facing communication skills.
- Detail-oriented, hardworking, and enthusiastic.
- Skilled in making customer-centered decisions based on experience.
- Effective working both independently and within a team.
- Able to maintain performance and quality under pressure.
- Reliable in meeting schedule commitments.
- Willingness to travel frequently and adapt to changing business needs.
- Flexible with working additional hours and overtime as required.
- Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Team-oriented with strong collaboration skills.
Education/Experience:
- Technical degree in Mechanics or Electronics or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience required.
- Minimum of one to three (1-3) years of experience in automation or similar required.
- Experience with on-site installations of large automation capital equipment or construction size projects preferred.
- Experience working with customers in the life science/clinical/pharmaceutical field preferred.
