Job Summary:

As an Operating Room Nurse, you will provide critical nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. You will work as part of a surgical team, ensuring the safety and comfort of patients before, during, and after surgery.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to determine health status and readiness for surgery.
• Prepare patients for surgery by educating them about the procedure and answering any questions.
• Verify surgical consent forms and ensure that all preoperative tests and documentation are complete.
• Assist the surgical team during procedures, maintaining a sterile environment and adhering to safety protocols.
• Monitor patients’ vital signs and overall condition throughout the surgery, responding to any changes as needed.
• Provide the necessary instruments and supplies to surgeons and assist as required.
• Monitor patients in the recovery room, assessing their response to anesthesia and managing pain levels.
• Educate patients and their families on postoperative care, including wound care and recovery expectations.
• Document patient care and any complications that may arise during the surgical process.
• Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
• Participate in team meetings to discuss patient outcomes and surgical practices.
• Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to ensure quality patient care and safety.
• Engage in continuous education and training to maintain certification and stay updated with advancements in surgical practices.

Qualifications:

• Current RN license in the state of practice.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in an acute care setting, with OR experience preferred.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
