The Robotics Supply Chain organization sources and manufactures a portfolio of robotics technology and is responsible for getting the right materials to the right place at the right time to support our network of global fulfillment and transportation solutions.

It’s an operation that works cross-functionally with teams across the globe, and is driven by data and metrics.

The Robotics Supply Chain team is seeking an experienced Manager for the Global Commodity Management team for Mechanicals to oversee complex sheet metal fabrication, die casting, CNC machining, and precision plastic injection molding operations.
The candidate will lead their team to achieve Global Supply Chain goals through strategic planning and execution. The ideal candidate will have a proven background in global supplier management, supplier development, and experience managing advanced technology commodities, with demonstrated success in implementing long-term commodity strategies and supporting new product introduction programs.

The successful candidate for this position will be experienced in working with product and engineering teams on the development and scaled production of mechanical components.

The Manager, Commodity Management - Mechanicals works with supply chain professionals and suppliers to meet exacting technical and commercial specifications, ensuring successful collaboration with internal partners in Product, Hardware Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, Supplier Quality, Supply Chain, Deployment, and Field Operations.

Key job responsibilities
  • Lead a Global Commodity Management team focused on mechanical manufacturing technologies, including sheet metal fabrication, die casting, precision machining, and plastic injection molding, through supply chain design, sourcing, logistics, and program execution throughout the product development cycle.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers globally for sheet metal components and plastic injection molding.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and supplier audits to ensure compliance with quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
  • Define Commodity Sourcing Strategies, including segmentation of critical mechanical components and suppliers, cost roadmap, manufacturing capacity planning, tooling and fixture requirements, supply chain risk assessment & mitigation plans.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Supplier Quality, and Advanced Manufacturing Engineering teams to define manufacturing requirements, quality standards, and technical specifications for mechanical components that align with sourcing strategies and business objectives.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers to secure favorable pricing and strategic long-term partnerships.
  • Drive cost-saving initiatives by identifying opportunities for cost reduction through supplier consolidation, process optimization, and alternative materials or methods.
  • Expect approximately 25% periodic travel to supplier's domestic and international manufacturing sites for business reviews, quality audits, and capacity planning.

  • 5 years of team management experience
  • 3 years in supply chain managing global sheet metal fabrication and plastic injection molding suppliers, including transition of mechanical components from NPI to mass production
  • Experience with supplier contract negotiations- Master's degree in Business Administration, Industrial or Operations Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
  • Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent programs with strict deadlines
  • Strong presentation and report writing skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools, Tableau analytics, and ERP/PLM Systems
