Body Shop Manager
Midland area business is seeking an experienced Body Shop Manager to run an independent body shop.
Here’s what you’ll be doing:
- Lead a strong technical team to operate in an effective manner while maintaining high standards of quality and workmanship
- Ensure that every employee is focused on providing exceptional customer service
- Forecasts goals and objectives for the body shop and meet or exceed them
- Ensures harmony and teamwork with all other departments
- Promotes a positive attitude and create a cohesive team to take the business forward.
- Prepares and administer an annual operating budget for the body shop
- Attends manager meetings as needed
- Understands, and keeps abreast of and comply with federal, state and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA right-to-know, etc.
- Hires, trains, motivates, counsel, and monitor the performance of all body shop staff
- Direct and schedule the activities of all body shop employees while providing expectations and feedback
- Ensures accurate estimating, costing and invoicing in the department
- Provides technical assistance as needed
- Ensures premises and equipment and other assets are controlled and used effectively
- Conducts meetings with body shop employees to discuss/communicate activities and issues
- Establishes and maintain good working relationships with several insurance adjusters
- Establishes and maintain good working relationships with customers to encourage repeat and referral business
- Completes quality checks on all completed on jobs
- Keeps abreast of new equipment and tools available and recommend purchases
- Ensures that the work areas and customer waiting area are kept clean
- Assists Fixed Operations Director as needed (other duties may be assigned)
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Automotive Body Shop Management: 1+ years
- 5 years of relevant work experience
- A complete understanding of the collision repair process, and familiarity with insurance repair procedures
- Ability to read and comprehend job-related instructions and information whether electronic or paper-based
- Deals creatively and logically with any problems that arise, while expressing empathy for customers and their problems
- Problem Solving – ability to root cause problems and present solutions
- Interpersonal Skills – the ability to interact well with employees and customers at all levels, socially poised
- Computer proficient - Estimating Software, and Microsoft Office
- High School diploma or equivalent required
