Senior GIS Analyst

This role requires advanced technical expertise in spatial data analysis, cartography, database management, and GIS software to support decision-making, operational efficiency, and strategic planning efforts. The Senior GIS Analyst also mentors junior staff, collaborates with cross-functional teams, and ensures that GIS data and systems meet organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Data Management & Analysis: Manage spatial databases, ensuring data accuracy and security. Perform advanced spatial analysis and create maps, reports, and visualizations to support projects.
• Project Leadership: Lead GIS projects, defining objectives, scope, and deliverables. Coordinate GIS integration with other business systems.
• Software & Tool Management: Use GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS) to analyze data and create GIS-based applications and dashboards. Implement new GIS technologies and practices.
• Training & Mentorship: Train and support GIS staff and non-GIS users. Mentor junior analysts in GIS techniques and system management.
• Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Work with cross-functional teams and present GIS findings to stakeholders. Simplify complex geospatial concepts for non-technical audiences.
• Quality Assurance & Compliance: Ensure GIS products meet industry standards and organizational policies. Conduct quality control and data validation.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Geography, GIS, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of GIS analysis experience, preferably in a senior role.
• Proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS), spatial data management, and cartography.
• Experience with scripting (Python, SQL) to automate tasks.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
• Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with GIS web development and custom applications.
• Knowledge of remote sensing and advanced GIS techniques.
• Public sector or environmental project experience.

Additional Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States.
• Must reside in the state of Florida.
• Must pass a background check upon offer of employment.
• Must be willing and able to travel to various work sites as needed.
• Must be willing and able to work long hours and adapt to changing environments.
