Structural Graduate Engineer

G&A Partners' client is currently seeking a Structural Graduate Engineer to join its team in Austin, TX.
Summary
Responsible for performing entry level engineering analysis, design, BIM model/document preparation and construction observation for small to medium projects and/or designated segments of larger complex projects. Position requires the application of professional engineering concepts, principles, practices, and methods sufficient to perform a broad range of engineering activities in a variety of materials and project types.Guidance may be provided by an experienced Engineer with the Graduate Engineer being required to exercise judgement in interpreting, analyzing, and adapting methods, techniques and procedures to specific cases. Initially completed work is reviewed for technical soundness, appropriateness, and compliance with standard engineering practices.
Responsibilities:
Design- Prepare and maintain BIM (Revit) models, design drawings, diagrams, and charts under the supervision of a professional engineer.
- Assist in the design and analysis of structural components for various projects, including buildings, and other structures, under the supervision of a professional engineer.
- Utilize structural engineering software to perform calculations and model structures, under the supervision of a professional engineer.
- Prepare and review technical drawings, reports, and specifications.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and architects to ensure integrated project delivery.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our design processes and standards.
- Assist in the preparation of preliminary, periodic and final estimates of quantities, materials, equipment, and labor for various projects.
- Assist in answering RFI’s and other question from the Contractor during construction.
- Assist in reviewing submittals and shop drawings during construction.
- Assist in conducting site observations, including the preparation of field reports, during construction.
- Maintain accurate filing and records system for projects from initiation to project close out.
- Understand, apply and maintain compliance with regulatory and industry standards and code requirements (e.g., ACI, AISC, ASTM, etc...)
- Create an effective self-performance plan
- Prioritize tasks
- Create milestones
- Anticipate project constraints and create alternative plans
- Monitor self-performance against the plan and report on the results
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited four-year university
- Proficiency in Revit
- Attention to detail
- Is able to clearly and effectively communicate with corporate managers, end users, and engineers from other departments
