As the Environmental Services Technician, you will keep all areas of the hospital clean and sanitized to protect individuals from potential infectious diseases or other hazards.- Floor Care: Provides basic and specialty cleaning services to all areas of the hospital, focusing primarily on the
and public spaces.
Specialty Units: Work includes providing a safe care environment for patients, and staff (visitors as appropriate to
setting) within a specialty area (surgical services/perioperative suite, cath lab, endoscopy, etc.) achieved bydemonstrating the principles of cleaning, disinfection and quality assurance toward the reduction of harmful pathogens
for the benefit of patients, visitors, and staff.
Other: Responsibilities may also include work in the Environmental Services Tech I classification.- ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for completing as assigned, performs all types of floor care and maintenance throughout the
- Adhere to all organizational safety, risk management and infection control standards while promoting a culture
- Cleans and performs routine maintenance on floor equipment; requesting assistance from plant operations and
- Maintains accurate floor care logs and checklists.
- Operates all equipment with care and according to facility and manufacturers safety standards and procedures.
- Participates in departmental performance improvement initiatives, including but not limited to initiatives to
- Performs project work and specialty tasks according to facility needs. Can include tasks such as conference room
of cubicle curtains.

Specialty Units:- Responsible for cleaning and disinfection of specialty units & equipment. Areas include but are not limited to
Unit.
- Performs duties while demonstrating working knowledge of the health care cleaning and disinfecting principles
within the specialty environment tasked with servicing.
- Accountable for accurately maintaining all appropriate logs and check lists/sheets current
- Responsible for cleaning and disinfection of equipment and areas of assignment according to procedures,
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of the cleaning and disinfecting requirements specific to highly sensitive
- Demonstrates understanding of the training and education related to evidence based recommendations in
accordance with the Association for the Health Care Environment (AHE), Association for Professional in Infection
Control (APIC) and Association for perioperative Nurses (AORN), CDC, The Joint Commission and otherregulatory bodies.
Other:- Actively participates in departmental performance improvement initiatives, including but not limited to
- Maintains supplies and equipment by properly stocking and restocking environmental services cart in a neat and
- Recognizes and adheres to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA)
- Follows all environmental and infection prevention practices (i.e. proper cleaning and disinfection protocols and
Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Practices critical thinking skills to include prioritization of duties and immediate needs/requests (Stat cleans)
- Demonstrates personal accountability
- Identify and utilize appropriate resources to ensure identified problems or concerns are followed through and
- Demonstrate knowledge of facility safety requirements.
- Demonstrates the ability to operate and properly maintain all EVS tools and equipment needed to clean and
- Assists in onboarding new Environmental Services Techs as requested
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Previous experience in commercial/healthcare cleaning preferred.
