1st Shift Licensed Electrician - Winston Salem
Overview:
THE ROLE
The 1st Shift Sr. licensed Electrician is responsible for all internal plant electrical distribution and electrical panels in Herbalife Nutrition’s manufacturing and office site. Responsibility includes knowledge of all electrical panel locations and their current loadings, performing electrical panel inspections and repairs, and engagement with all new electrical requests.All changes to site electrical infrastructure must result in updates to site electrical drawings to reflect those changes. Specific details of those changes are to be communicated to the site CAD draftsman for documentation. All work is capable of passing local NC Electrical Code inspection.
The individual will work onsite at our state of art Innovation and Manufacturing facility in here Winston-Salem, NC.
Daily assignments include diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing problem electrical circuits. Evaluation of existing electrical infrastructure to support and install new equipment or electrical requirements is required. Inspection and maintenance of site electrical infrastructure past the utility feeds is routinely performed.Knowledge of correct electrical code specifics for conductor sizing and routing, and code requirements for equipment and circuit disconnects is needed. Frequent involvement with equipment technicians solving production problems will occur and occasional interaction with visiting OEM installers needing to power up new purchased equipment.
Administrative area requests typically include new circuit drops for expansions or relocated office equipment. These installations also require provisions for network cabling pathways.
Act on behalf of Facility Manager as departmental Lead as the need arises, to distribute work and re-arrange changing work priorities. Clarify work requested of the team by reviewing the work detail and collaborating with other production and maintenance managers.
HOW YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE:
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical circuits and components needed for safe distribution of electrical utility. Ensure compliance to NC Electrical Code. Initiate required repairs or modifications as needed to meet compliance.
- Use accepted testing and troubleshooting methods to root cause malfunctions. Safe use of hand-held volt-ohm meters, meg-ohm meters, infrared detection cameras to help determine the fault condition and the repair path needed for electrical disconnects, transformers, fuses, motor starters, relays, and contactors.
- Read and review electrical schematics and/or facility wiring diagrams to facilitate repairs and needed servicing.
- Capture all work efforts on work orders including time, parts used, and comments regarding the work. Use work order system to uncover repeat issues and root cause determinations.
- Assist when needed to act as facilities team lead to support the Facilities Maintenance Manager. In the absence of the Facility Maintenance Manager, conduct end of shift transition meetings. Redirect team members from original plan as needed to support strategic needs of the facility and/or production floor.
- Act as lead electrical trainer for the entire Maintenance Department to increase the shift team’s capabilities, ensuring the maintenance technicians are properly trained and competent in all the technical aspects of their positions, and that code requirements are explained.
- Promote and maintain a safe work environment (lead by example).
- Participate in developing proper electrical PM inspections to improve safety and plant reliability.
- Display good organizational skills and habits. Grow in your understanding of the eMaint database and how it is useful to track equipment history and prior failures, parts used, PMs performed, supplemental work completed.
- Maintain daily communications with Facility Manager and Maintenance Supervisor. Support departmental goals and objectives, help to drive the team in the same direction.

Job Qualifications:
SKILLS AND BACKGROUND REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
Skills:
- Display and possess a strong background in prior plant electrical work
- Display mechanical aptitude and experience
- Proficient with use of meters and electrical test equipment and use of power tools
- Competent with electrical print reading, both for installations and troubleshooting
- Experience with both AC Drives and PLC equipmen
- Excellent safety record
- Strong organization and communication skills, both written and oral
- Intuitive. Pays attention to details
Experience:
- 5+ years in a manufacturing environment or an industrial plant setting
- 3-5 years’ experience with plant electrical maintenance work and 480V 3 Ph power
- Ability to read and troubleshoot by electrical schematics or electrical one-line drawings.
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 2-year technical degree from accredited institution and/or Military experience
- NC electrical license with strong familiarity of the National Electrical Code
- Completion of ARC Flash training and knowledge of the PPE requirements
