Overview:

WMU Homer Stryker MD School of Medicine is looking for an experienced Social Worker to join the Pediatric and Adolescent medicine team. The social worker will provide coordination of care services for our pediatric psychology patients and general pediatric patients as well as additional HRSA grant related activities.

The social worker will also help provide medical resident education in the mental and behavioral health rotation and curriculum. The social worker will serve as a member of the Pediatric Psychology team. This position is funded by Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) for primary care training and enhancement - residency training in mental and behavioral health.

This 32 hour per week position is funded by a grant through the Health Resources and Services Administration for Primary Care Training and Enhancement - Residency Training in Mental and Behavioral Health.

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for providing social work services and medical resident education within the Divison of Pediatric Psychology and general pediatric clinic.
  • Responsible for the documentation of patient care per clinic standards.
  • Maintain continuing educational credits as required for license.
  • Acquires knowledge for new technology and policy/procedure revisions.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, required.
  • Two years Social Work experience, preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Michigan Mental Health Code and the laws and regulations governing Pediatrics is necessary.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Social Worker (MSW) License

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge and proficiency in EMR.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in word processing and file management using Microsoft Office and other software as required by the department.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in grammar and spelling skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to interpret, comprehends, and transmits complicated and detailed instructions accurately.
  • Demonstrates the ability to recognize priorities in organization of workflow.
  • Able to perform duties independently, with a minimal need for direct supervision.
