Position Summary: Oak View Group (OVG) the leading food service provider located at Mc Cormick Place Convention Center has an
immediate opening for a Purchasing Coordinator.
The Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for the effective supervision and running of venue distribution/ warehouse operations including inventory, receiving, purchasing, ordering, lay-ins, purchase order tracking, clean-up, transfers and equipment maintenance.The Purchasing Coordinator must provide a high level of event oversight, technical proficiency, and operational/personnel support to ensure the smooth running of (or preparation for) any assigned event. The Purchasing Coordinator will actively assist with supervising, coaching, counseling, directing, training and mentoring employees in meeting company quality standards, and will assist with initiating and authorizing all employment actions such as interview decision-making, hiring, terminating, suspension, discipline, promotion, and transfer.
The Warehouse Coordinator will actively and independently manage all aspects of employee relations to ensure a positive, harmonious, compliant, and cooperative work environment.
This role will pay an hourly wage of $25 to $30.

Mc Cormick Place located in downtown Chicago is the largest and most flexible convention center in North America., With over 2.6 million square feet of exhibition space, the campus proudly hosts some of the world’s largest and most prestigious conventions, meetings, and trade shows, welcoming approximately 3 million visitors to Chicago every year.
Responsibilities:
- Work from general instructions and specifications provided by Director of Purchasing.
- Collaborates with Warehouse Managers for product purchasing/ordering, receiving and distribution control for the venue.
- Ensure that established procedures for tracking purchase orders, requisitions, receiving dockets and perpetual inventor are maintained; report any deviation to the Warehouse Manager and Director of Operations.
- Manage sanitation log and operates organizational systems of all warehouse storage areas.
- Assist with event operations as directed by the Director of Purchasing.
- Responsible for ensuring that purchase order system is adhered to for all orders received at each warehouse; verify proper specification, size, quantity, etc. of goods received; supervise proper labeling, dating and stocking of supplies.
- Maintain Safety Data Sheets for all products and properly organized and available to all personnel.
- Responsible for corrections within ABI Software.
- Other supporting responsiblities directed by Director of Purchasing.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:High School diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in warehouse/inventory management. Demonstrated skill in managing multiple functions and interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and a commitment to team results are required.
WORK SCHEDULE:Ability to work various workdays and hours to meet business needs including early/late hours, long days, weekends and holidays. Must be reliable and punctual.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:While performing duties of this job, the employee will frequently operate a computer and other office devices such as calculators, telephones, copy machines, faxes and printers. The employee occasionally lifts and moves a variety of facility equipment and/or tools.
The Purchsing Coordinator position will occasionally bend, stoop, or crouch to evaluate and inspect/install utility services; employee will as needed operate forklift or high lift to support the exhibitor requirements for the event. Employee must constantly communicate via telephone, email and in-person with others and exchange accurate information.
Employee may frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. As business, maintenance, operations or emergency situations require, employee may occasionally lift/move 100 lbs. or more.
COMPUTER SKILLS:Ability to proficiently utilize Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel and Outlook); training on industry specific software will be provided
