Responsibilities- Ensures the timely payment of payroll tax liabilities for all Shared Services. Reviews weekly payroll activity reports to ensure tax compliance. Works with Payroll to resolve any tax issues.
- Provides Corporate Treasury with the federal and state payroll tax payments on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis. Prepares the subsequent journal entry to the General Ledger. Reconciles General Ledger payroll liability accounts on a quarterly basis.
- Acts as a liaison for the unemployment service provider. Reviews accruals for unemployment tax rates. Prepares quarterly state unemployment returns and resulting payments. Prepares unemployment tax forecasts to Treasury on a monthly basis. Reconciles unemployment General Ledger liability account on a quarterly basis.
- Researches and implements current tax technology ensuring compliance and that savings opportunities are captured.
- Researches federal and state tax literature to stay abreast of legislative actions and ensure tax compliance.
- Gathers and maintains documentation in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX). Conducts quarterly testing of audit controls in accordance with SOX.
