Senior Mechanical Engineer
Our client is looking for a talented Senior Mechanical Engineer to contribute to the development of high-speed packaging machinery. The ideal candidate will bring a strong CAD design background and a minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design, with expertise in assembly systems, automation, configuration management, and risk mitigation.
This role will involve managing projects from start to finish, ensuring full compliance with budget, timelines, and quality standards for successful and efficient project execution.

responsibilities:
- Oversee configuration management, proposing design enhancements and cost-saving solutions, including full ROI analysis.
- Lead the design and development of high-speed packaging machinery, with a focus on multi-part assemblies and automation systems.
- Manage assembly configurations and implement strategies to minimize risks throughout the design phase.
- Design and analyze complex assembly structures, ensuring smooth integration and optimal interaction of components.
- Develop creative solutions to design challenges, enhancing machinery to meet specific customer requirements.
- Optimize system efficiency to ensure seamless product operations within automation solutions.
- Utilize solid modeling tools (Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD) to create and prototype new design concepts.
- Estimate costs and ensure designs are manufacturable while maintaining functionality.
- Develop robust validation strategies for dynamic systems to ensure design performance.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and customer specifications in all design efforts.
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing, purchasing, and testing teams for seamless design integration during the machine build and testing phases.
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for customers, providing timely solutions and addressing any concerns.
- Ensure customer satisfaction and optimal system performance in the field.
- Manage projects, ensuring adherence to budget, timeline, and quality standards for on-time and efficient project completion.
- Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 5-10 years of mechanical design experience, focusing on assembly systems, automation, and configuration management.
- strong knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and risk management strategies for complex assemblies.
- Familiarity with machine shop practices and experience collaborating with manufacturing teams for design implementation.
- Experience in the packaging or automation industry is highly preferred.
- Experience with MRP systems such as Avante or EPICOR ERP is a plus.
