About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Instructional Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience in designing and developing engaging and effective learning experiences across various formats, including ILT, VILT, and eLearning.

This role requires a deep understanding of instructional design theories and methodologies, as well as proficiency in using modern eLearning tools and technologies. In this role, you will assist in creating content for Athena employees to support a comprehensive onboarding and continued learning curriculum tailored to the needs of our dynamic agency.

Requirements

What you'll be responsible for:

  • Analyze Learning Needs: Conduct thorough needs assessments to identify learning objectives and performance gaps.
  • Design and Develop Learning Materials: Create engaging and interactive instructional materials, including ILT/VLT courses, curriculum, student guides, and training manuals both technical and soft skills.
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs): Work closely with SMEs to gather content and ensure the accuracy and relevance of instructional materials.
  • Implement Instructional Strategies: Apply instructional design theories and methodologies to develop effective learning experiences.
  • Develop Multimedia Content: Design and integrate multimedia elements such as audio, video, simulations, and interactive activities to enhance learning.
  • Evaluate Learning Effectiveness: Develop and implement assessment tools to measure the effectiveness of training programs and make data-driven improvements.
  • Stay Current with Industry Trends: Keep up to date with the latest trends and best practices in instructional design and eLearning.

The skills and experience you should have:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in instructional design, with a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in ILT, VILT, and eLearning for technical and soft skills.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in eLearning authoring tools (e.g., Captivate, Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate), Learning Management Systems (LMS), and multimedia editing software as well as MS Word and PowerPoint.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate learning outcomes and make data-driven decisions.
  • Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage projects, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

It’s a plus if you have:

  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in instructional design or eLearning development.
  • Experience with Learning Technologies: Familiarity with emerging learning technologies and trends, such as mobile learning, gamification, and virtual reality.
