Responsibilities:

SUMMARY

Responsible for the overall results of Process Engineering for the assigned site. A technology subject matter expert and resource for the site with overall accountability for process engineering initiatives. Works with all departments to achieve performance goals and drive the continuous improvement process of the site.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure compliance to all safety policies and procedures. Establish, support and maintain a “safety first” culture.
  • Accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible through active engagement in safety activities and provide clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations.
  • Supports and investigates situations in which line/equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived, imminent safety risk.
  • Actively leads risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritized corrective and preventative actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health or safety risks.
  • Lead all required meetings with safety (i.e. Pre-shift, Department Change Management, General communication, Town Hall, etc.).
  • Completes incident investigations, root cause analysis and implements corrective actions accordingly in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Plans and directs the process engineering operations of the site.
  • Manages the assigned process engineers in investigating and resolving manufacturing issues, making recommendations for preventive action, optimizing current products and processes and commercializing new products
  • Understand and fully utilize all ISO procedures
  • Ensures the proper training and development of all assigned employees for whom they are responsible.
  • Sets goals for their organizations unit; ensures plans are in place to achieve performance/indicator target/goals and ensures that all employees understand and work toward achieving targets/goals.
  • Motivates and coaches employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback. Identifies and coordinates additional training as needed.
  • Utilizes process control methodology (Six Sigma, SPC, Designed Experiments, etc) to solve problems and improve process control and capability.
  • Define process specifications, which include machinery set-ups, operating conditions, set points, tolerances, processing procedures and packaging specifications, based on a strong understanding of customer requirements.
  • Develop and maintain systems including performance measurements, failure costs, control systems, quality standards, product and process capability for all raw materials and finished products by utilizing such tools as statistical methods, pareto charts, flow charting and failure mode effects analysis.
  • Prepares capital expenditure requests to improve existing operations, increase efficiencies, improve product quality or commercialize new technologies.
  • Initiates and assists with implementation of process control improvements using DMAIC planning process.
  • Serves as a resource on plant technologies and raw materials.
  • Serves as a resource on FMEA's, Change Management, Designed Experiments, Six Sigma, and other process control tools.
  • Interfaces with multiple functions and customers to resolve problems, develop corrective actions, develop new products, and improve existing processes.
  • Establish and maintain a process audit function to ensure compliance to standards and specifications. Develop corrective action plans and systems.
  • Ensures process records are maintained to ISO compliant requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Engineering or equivalent combination of experience and education which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Six Sigma Black or Green belt preferred, CPM preferred
  • Must be able to read and speak English
