Job Title: RN - Cath Lab - Travel
Location: Pompton Plains, NJ, 07444
Shift: 10-hour shifts, with varying start times (typically between 6:00 AM - 8:00 AM)
On-Call Requirement: 12-14 days per month, including approximately 2 weekends per month. Must be able to respond within 30 minutes.
Experience: Must have Cath Lab experience; experience with Interventional Radiology, Pacemakers, and Vascular procedures is a plus.
Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with Epic and Change Healthcare/McKesson CVIS is helpful.
Responsibilities: Includes circulating and potentially monitoring during procedures and working in the Pre/Post Cath Lab area.

Additional Experience: TEE and cardiovascular procedure experience is preferred.

Job Overview:

This position is for a Travel Registered Nurse in the Cath Lab responsible for providing high-quality patient care to patients requiring specialized procedures. The ideal candidate will have critical care experience, strong clinical skills, and the ability to deliver care across a wide range of patient demographics, from pediatric to geriatric.

Key Responsibilities:

Assessment Skills: Conducts comprehensive and systematic patient assessments, demonstrating an understanding of all stages of growth and development from pediatric to geriatric.
Clinical Skills: Performs direct patient care and contributes to the patient care team with competent clinical skills, including knowledge of emergency equipment and protocols.
Documentation: Maintains accurate and complete patient documentation, following documentation guidelines. Ensures all components of the nursing process are accurately reflected in the patient’s chart.
Professionalism: Demonstrates responsibility, familiarity with policies and procedures, and strives for clinical and professional growth.
Patient Satisfaction: Promotes a patient-centered environment, responding to patients, families, and colleagues professionally and respectfully. Maintains patient confidentiality in alignment with HIPAA guidelines.
Safety: Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals, including Universal Protocol and using two patient identifiers. Practices safe transfer techniques and proper body mechanics for both self and patients.

Unit-Specific Knowledge: Understands conditions, diagnoses, procedures, and equipment encountered in surgical care. Individualizes patient care according to the procedure, type of anesthesia, and patient’s condition across the care continuum.

Responsibility and Accountability: Assumes accountability for patient care, prioritizing based on patient needs and condition changes.
Patient Education and Chart Completion: Engages patients and families in educational discussions regarding procedures. Completes pre- and post-operative assessments and instructions as needed.

Pre-Admission Testing (PAT): Evaluates PAT orders for completeness and appropriateness, considering surgery type, patient age, and health status.

Skills and Certifications:

  • Required:
  • RN License
  • BLS Certification
  • ACLS Certification
  • Minimum of 2 years of critical care experience
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred).

Physical Requirements: As defined by Occupational Safety/OMS standards.
