Overview:

The OJT Saturation position directly assists the Manufacturing department with the day-to-day production, scheduling and training necessary for associates to master and complete functional tasks in production work cells.

Responsibilities:

  • Primary responsibility for production scheduling, process improvement implementation, production performance, quality, training and evaluation of specified work cells (Knitting, Saturation or ABL/HAL) reporting to the Operations Manager / Supervisors.
  • Maintains an environment that supports and promotes the core values and culture of Contec, including support of Contec’s policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Complies with proper cleanroom protocol and works within ISO 9001-2015 quality standards
  • Ensures production equipment and processes are safe and properly functioning for assigned work cell. Follow escalation protocols to remove roadblocks.
  • Provides certification and recertification training for every operational station in production work cells such as Knitting, Saturation, HAL / ABL or other areas as assigned by the Operations Manager
  • Tracks team and individual production performance by cell, shift and associate.
  • Assists the Operations Manager, Supervisors, Safety and Training departments as a dedicated instructor in preparing and implementing the monthly training forecast. Ensures the employees receive timely and adequate training to perform their jobs.
  • Assesses employee performance and provides appropriate feedback to the Supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Identifies additional training needs that may fall outside the existing traditional operational procedures and identifies needs such as lean development and continuous/process improvement of the work cell, organizes Kaizen activities for process improvement with Technicians and Operators to improve performance and throughput.
  • Works with Maintenance, R&D, Quality and Process Engineering to plan, develop, test, and implement new processes, products, and upgrades to assigned work cells through trials, repairs, upgrades and procedures to improve equipment operation and increase throughput.
  • Acts as a conduit between floor supervision/management, Planning, Quality and the work cell.
  • Communicates concerns/issues raised by Production, Quality, Warehouse, and Receiving.
  • Provides input to both the floor and training manager of the deployment of any change in training need or requirements
  • Assists Supervisors with team and individual requirements of each team member position to be filled during PTO or position vacancy.
  • Others may be asssigned.

Communicates Effectively: Provides the room lead and water spiders with timely information, such as someone’s performance that needs addressed or when they will need another tub to work on. Gives opinions on how to make processes better. Can communicate effectively to one person/trainee or an entire table of people/trainees.

Interpersonal Savvy: Can relate to people and build a good rapport with people. Can control emotions when things aren’t going the way they want or expect them to and doesn’t allow frustration to show.

Customer Focus: Dedicated to meeting both internal and external expectations. Makes decisions with the customer in mind by holding team accountable to quality standards of stacking. Helps to identify opportunities in the process (improvements) that will benefit the customer.

Listens Effectively: Listens to their trainees and team members with patience. Takes in information that is given whether it is a compliment or constructive feedback or criticism.

Time Management: Gets more work done in less time than others. Keep trainees on target for all that they need to learn with the training time given.

Directs Work: Provides clear direction and accountability to all team members. Provides proper rotation of employees for the different tasks of the table, such as, sealing, stacking… etc. Keeps track of the table’s performance and logs it hourly.

Approachability: Is easy for trainees to approach and talk to. Takes extra time when needed to put others at ease. Has a welcoming feeling about them.

Drives Results: Consistently achieving standard even when the circumstances are hard. Has a track record of helping trainees meet and exceed goals successfully. Pushes self and others to help achieve results

Requirements:

High school diploma or GED; or 1-3 years of experience and/or training in Manufacturing Operations; or equivalent combination of education and training; or initial training and successful performance as a Contec associate or a lateral move from another department.
