Survey Instrument Operator / SUE Locator

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled SUE Locator with Survey Instrument Operator experience to join our team. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience in identifying, marking, and recording subsurface utilities using advanced geophysical equipment.As a critical member of our team, you will play a key role in ensuring accurate utility data collection to be utilized in the engineering and excavation planning.

Key Responsibilities:
- Utility Locating: Perform precise field location of underground utilities (water, gas, electrical, telecommunications, etc.) using electromagnetic, ground-penetrating radar (GPR), and other geophysical tools.
- Survey Support: Operate and maintain survey instruments such as GPS, robotic total stations, and data collectors to ensure accurate utility mapping.
- Data Collection & Reporting: Gather, document, and interpret utility information and transfer data to engineering and survey teams for mapping and construction purposes.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all work follows relevant safety guidelines and protocols for working around underground utilities.
- Documentation: Create detailed reports, sketches, and diagrams of utility locations and conditions. Upload and organize data within company systems.
- Willingness to Travel: This position will require extensive several night travel across several states as projects require. The estimated amount of travel is between 60 and 75%.
Qualifications:
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience as a SUE Locator to include entry level Survey Instrument Operator experience.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in using electromagnetic locating devices, GPR, GPS, total stations, and related survey instruments.
- Knowledge: Familiar with the ASCE 38-02 Standard Guidelines for the Collection and Depiction of Existing Subsurface Utility Data.
- Software: Proficient in CAD, GIS, or related mapping and utility software is a plus.
- Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
