Join our team as a Registration Coordinator and play a crucial role in ensuring smooth and efficient patient registration processes. As a Registration Coordinator, you will be responsible for registering patients, verifying insurance benefits, pre-certifications, and verifying demographic information.Additional responsibilities include payment collection and posting, as well as processing financial assistance applications. This role requires a high level of customer service, attention to detail, and the ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and shift rotations.
Responsibilities:
- Patient Registration: Register patients accurately and efficiently.
- Insurance Verification: Verify insurance benefits and pre-certifications.
- Demographic Verification: Ensure all patient demographic information is up to date.
- Payment Handling: Collect and post payments, and assist with financial assistance applications as needed.
- Customer Service: Maintain a customer-centric approach when dealing with all types of patients, both internal and external.
- Communication: Provide clear and effective communication with patients and medical staff.
- Administrative Duties: Manage multiple tasks in an organized manner, complete required documentation, and follow up on outstanding issues.
Qualifications:
- Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Understanding of medical terminology.
- Two years of experience in a medical-related field preferred.
- Bilingual skills preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Proficient in typing (minimum 35 wpm) and computer literate.
- Commitment to excellent customer service.
- Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
- Primary office environment/workstation.
- Potential exposure to communicable diseases.
- Physical requirements include:
- Stooping: Bending the body downward and forward by bending the spine at the waist.
- Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending the legs and the spine.
- Standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods.
- Medium physical effort required, including lifting up to 40 pounds and frequently carrying objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Sensory Requirements:
- Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; able to read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language.
- Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sound by ear.
- Vision: Acuity at 20 feet or more (far vision) and 20 inches or less (near vision).
- Mental Requirements:
- Ability to perform effectively in frequent stressful situations.
- Exposure to Hazards:
- Constant exposure to chemicals, infectious, electrical, and fire hazards.
- Exposure to blood and body fluids requiring Biohazard protection.
