We are looking for a diligent Accounting Clerk to join our team in the government sector, based in MC MURRAY, Pennsylvania. This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity. As an Accounting Clerk, your key responsibilities will involve managing the payments and billing from various departments, ensuring the books are balanced monthly, and providing reports for auditing purposes.

• Handle payments and billing for the sewage, EIT, and real estate departments
• Balance the books on a monthly basis
• Compile and submit reports to auditors
• Manage Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) operations
• Maintain accurate records of financial transactions
• Respond to and resolve customer inquiries related to their accounts
• Monitor customer accounts and take necessary action as required
• Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and standards
• Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth operation of the finance department
• Continuously identify opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy in the accounting process. • Possess a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Experience in government accounting practices would be beneficial
• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) is necessary
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
