Education:

• Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Radiologic Technology

Certification:

• ARRT Certification
• BLS Certification

Required Skills:

• N.Y. State Department of Health Licensed Radiologic Technologist
• Competency in performing diagnostic procedures

Responsibilities:

• Establish rapport with patients to identify service requirements and reduce anxieties.
• Explain procedures and answer questions to gain patient cooperation.
• Position patients properly, adjust immobilization devices, and set equipment controls.
• Minimize radiation exposure by practicing radiation protection techniques and using shielding methods.
• Follow infection control policies to ensure patient and staff safety.
• Maintain high-quality radiographs by following established standards and making necessary adjustments.
• Document patient care services accurately in records and verify completed exams.
• Ensure proper functioning of radiology equipment by performing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting issues.
• Manage radiology supply inventory and anticipate necessary restocking.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with all relevant procedures and regulations.
• Keep professional and technical knowledge up to date by meeting CME requirements, attending workshops, and staying informed on industry developments.
