Associate Scientist II (Editas Medicine, Inc.; Cambridge, Massachusetts):The Associate Scientist II will be responsible for the following duties: Independently lead and develop new experiments and scientific processes to support development of novel therapeutic candidates, utilizing a thorough understanding of gene editing technologies; Lead projects and oversee collaborations; Analyze, interpret, report, and contextualize experimental data; Keep abreast of technical trends to advance and innovate on research projects; Actively participate in team discussions; Collaborate across programs to drive success; and Provide expertise to troubleshoot challenging technical problems.

Requirements

Minimum requirements: Master's degree or foreign equivalent in cell or molecular biology or related life sciences field, plus 2 years of relevant post-degree research experience.

Must Have: Demonstrated extensive expertise in cell and molecular biology and biochemistry; Demonstrated experience in a wide variety of molecular cloning techniques, including standard restriction digest and ligation, Gibson, Quickchange, PCR; Demonstrated expertise with DNA analysis software (Geneious, Benchling, SnapGene); Demonstrated experience in designing and cloning mammalian, bacterial, and viral expression vectors; Demonstrated experience with immortalized and primary cell culture systems in terms of passaging, freezing, seeding, lipid transfections, and AAV/lenti transductions; Demonstrated experience in designing and optimizing molecular assays (qPCR) for isolation and quantification of DNA and RNA, with and without automation; Demonstrated experience with protein isolation, purification, and quantification techniques, such as BCA assay and Western blotting; Demonstrated experience independently troubleshooting molecular assays, including consulting the available literature for potential precedent; Demonstrated excellent attention to detail and organizational and record-keeping skills; Demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented, multidisciplinary, and cross-functional environment; Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multiple teams simultaneously while adhering to stringent timelines; and Demonstrated ability to mentor junior team members.
