Position Overview

We are seeking a talented and motivated Full Stack Software Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of our web application tailored for K-12 education. This position will work closely with our CTO, engineers, and cross-functional teams to enhance features, streamline operational processes, and elevate the user experience on our platform.

The role allows for innovative thinking and a high degree of autonomy, requiring strong ownership, problem-solving, and communication skills.

This position will be our on-call engineer in the early morning Eastern Time and will need to be available to work starting at 6am EST. We are open to remote international candidates with strong English.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain front-end and back-end components of our web application, focusing on high performance, responsiveness, and scalability.
  • Collaborate with product managers and designers to translate user requirements into impactful technical solutions.
  • Optimize our code deployment processes to reduce errors and speed up delivery.
  • Write clean, efficient, and well-tested code following best practices and coding standards.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure maintainability and adherence to standards.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends in web development.
  • Contribute actively to team brainstorming, knowledge-sharing, and meetings.
  • Take on diverse challenges to build value for our customers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • Self-starter with a history of adding value through creative solutions and strong execution.
  • Proficiency in web development fundamentals: HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
  • Experience with modern front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js).
  • Familiarity with server-side programming (e.g., Node.js, Express.js, Django).
  • Understanding of relational and non-relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
  • Experience with version control systems like Git.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
  • Passion for BrightBee’s mission to enhance K-12 education.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS or Google Cloud.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools and DevOps practices.
  • Knowledge of authentication mechanisms like OAuth or JWT.
  • Startup or entrepreneurial environment experience is a plus.
Compensation
  • Salary ranging from $90,000-$125,000 DOE
