Position Description:
Body Exterior Feasibility Engineer - Prepares 2D Master Sections to drive engineering feasibility and support studio surface delivery. Feasibility work focused on vehicles solutions to simplify decision making, drive vehicle optimization and enable concurrent release of all surfaces.Ability to work cross functionally with studio engineers, design & release engineers, studio designers, manufacturing engineers, system and architecture engineers.
Skills Required:
Develop 2D master sections for surface to B-side commodities compatibility with or without direct supervision
Develop 3D CAD proposals when 2D sections are not sufficient
Ability to resolve package issues, come up with engineering solutions to support theme delivery and translate engineering requirements into guidance sections/ boundaries for studio
Provide the support to ensure program delivered per process per milestones
Strong Problem Solving skills ability to understand engineering design constraints/ requirements and studio creative wants
Lead Feasibility investigation of engineering enablers to deliver studio themes
CAD geometry development using CATIA/ 3DX and Teamcenter Engineering tools
Understands Customer, Regulatory, and Corporate requirements for global and local programs
Collaborate side by side with D&R developing attachment strategies, directing DTO to modify studio surface when needed, applying engineering skills and abilities
Support the vision of overall Appearance Systems Team department and help implement it
Experience Required:
3+ years of engineering experience. Automotive experience in design and release for class A parts is a major plus
Systems Engineering or Integration experience would also be useful in this role
Strong CAD Skills is required (>1500 hours). Experience with using CATIA/3DX is a plus
Teamcenter & VisMockup knowledge equivalent to designer role
Proficient reading, writing and conversational English required
Strong Communication Skills with demonstrated project delivery and cross-system problem solving
Able to understand, interpret and apply corporate and federal regulations
Computer skills included MS office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook)
Education Required:
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
