Job Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Cost Accounting Manager reporting to the Controller. This role is responsible for cost accounting policies and procedures, maintaining and analyzing standard costs and supporting the implementation and ongoing maintenance of Oracle.The Cost Accounting Manager will work closely with manufacturing and supply chain business partners. This role will collaborate with accounting and finance on standard costing, valuation, completeness and existence of inventory as well as special projects
This position is based in our Woburn office and welcomes hybrid work! Local candidates are expected to be on-site 2 days per week.
Responsibilities:
- Lead annual standard costing exercise for commercial product in conjunction with FP&A counterparts, accounting, and manufacturing and supply chain business partners.
- Develop & maintain costing, variance, and other accounting reports using Oracle and related systems.
- Prepare and analyze cost allocations.
- Analyze variances in costs; Monitor and analyze labor costs and productivity, prepare monthly analysis of expense items to identify any trends or unusual fluctuations in results and investigate.
- Support accounting in preparing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations for inventory.
- Support accounting finance leaders in developing the annual operating & capital expense budgets and forecasts.
- Conduct an analysis of inventory accounts to include, inventory balances, inventory reserves, inventory turns and variance accounts.
- Oversee physical inventory counts and ensure reconciliation with financial records.
- Facilitate an inventory review process reporting to accounting on reserve recommendations.
- Support accounting during external audits (quarterly reviews and year-end audits).
- Assists accounting in documenting policies, procedures, and controls for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
- Participate in special projects and assignments on an ad hoc basis.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is a plus.
Required Experience:
- 5-10 years of cost accounting experience for a manufacturing company, commercial biotech preferred.
- Oracle ERP system experience is preferred.
- Oracle ERP implementation experience is a plus.
- Experience driving continuous process improvements with a successful track record of enhancing processes.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
