Assistant Controller

We are looking for an Assistant Controller to join our team in New York, New York. In this role, you will be working within the realm of Commercial Real Estate Investment, specifically focusing on Property Accounting & Reporting. You will be responsible for financial reporting and analytical review of various entities, including property owner entities and joint venture entities.

Responsibilities:

• Financial reporting for property owner entities, related taxable REIT subsidiary, joint venture entities, and certain entities that invest in the JV entity
• Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages
• Providing additional client reporting as required
• Analytical review of financial reports to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Working closely with other team members to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met
• Assisting in the development and implementation of accounting procedures and policies
• Providing support for audit inquiries and requests
• Contributing to the continuous improvement of accounting processes and procedures within the company
• Collaborating with other departments to ensure all financial reporting requirements are satisfied.
• Prior experience in an Assistant Controller position or similar role
• Proficient in accounting software and MS Office Suite
• Excellent understanding of data analysis and forecasting methods
• Understanding of Commercial Real Estate Investment
• Strong ethical standards and high levels of integrity
• Ability to strategize and solve problems
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work under pressure
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field
• Must have relevant certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
• Demonstrated leadership abilities
• Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to direct and supervise staff.
