Purpose and Summary:
A Human Resources Specialist (HRS) serves as one of the primary employees. The HRS is responsible for helping and assisting in the Direct Support Professionals recruitment process by collecting, receiving, and screening job applications from potential candidates that fit our communities needs.

The HRS works closely with other members of the Essential Services administrative team, to ensure the flow of business practices while upholding the core values of Essential Services standards and practices.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recruiting Direct Support Professionals (DSP).
  • Reviewing/Interviewing job applicants.
  • Verifying valid identification/employment authorization.
  • Submitting background checks to Orchards Background Check Unit (BCU).
  • Onboarding employees by creating digital employee files.
  • Scanning New Hire changing documents into digital files.
  • Assist HRL with any daily tasks needed.
  • Answer HR phone, monitor texts, voicemails, and emails.
  • Manage employee driver’s license and auto insurance.
  • Manage and upkeep of online database of employees.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing assigned tasks as needed.
  • Collaborating with other departments as needed.
Organizational Responsibilities
  • Ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and safekeeping of agency records.
  • Having enthusiasm and commitment.
  • Acting in accordance with Essential Services policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Maintaining respectful, cooperative working relationships to contribute to the integrated seamless delivery of services to families, and community at large and Essential Services Employees.
  1. Understanding their role and responsibility in maintaining a safe workplace and reducing all workplace injuries.
  2. Understand that job duties may involve driving client, acting as a DSP for clients on occasion, taking clients to the hospital, getting

food boxes, to Dr. appointments, and doing well checks.

Minimum Qualifications.
  • Being at least 21 years of age.
  • Successfully completing a DHS criminal history check.
  • Being legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Demonstrating by background, education, references, skills, and abilities that he or she is capable of safely and adequately performing all tasks assigned.
  • Having the ability and sufficient education to follow oral and written instructions and keep any records required.
  • Having the ability to communicate with clients, other staff, client’s family members brokerage personnel, and ES staff.
  • Responsibility, maturity, and reputable character exercising sound judgment with high ethical standards.
  • Not being the spouse of any client that the employee works directly with.
  • Having no substantiated abuse or neglect findings against them by DHS, CDDP or other appropriate authority.
  • Not being on the current Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services list of excluded or debarred providers.
  • Holding a valid driver’s license and appropriate levels of auto insurance if driving as part of job duties.
  • Knowledge of human resources management principles and best practices.
  • Excellent knowledge of employment legislation and regulations.

  • Able to communicate with clients and employees through SMS, email, phone call, and in person.
  • Understanding of computers and software programs such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Adobe Fill & Sign, Google Documents, Internet Explorer, Windows, phone-based applications, and E-mail correspondence.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently, exercise good judgment, and prioritize daily tasks.
  • Ability to work independently within the policies and procedures and the vision, mission and core values established by Essential Services LLC,.
Essential Services employees shall provide the following minimum training.
  • Mandatory abuse reporter status and procedures for reporting abuse and neglect.
  • Client confidentiality.
  • CPR & First Aid.
  • Emergency procedures.
  • Sexual harassment in the workplace.
  • Essential Services employees shall be required to complete a TB test that is administered by a licensed medical professional or facility, if regulations require such a test before working with a specific client.
