Type: 6-Month Contract (Potential Contract-to-Hire)
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to lead and oversee our accounting operations for a 6-month contract period, with the potential to transition to a permanent role. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing the full accounting cycle, a commitment to meeting tight deadlines, and the ability to lead a team effectively.This is a hands-on role with a focus on maintaining compliance, ensuring accuracy, and delivering high-quality financial reporting.
- Key Responsibilities: Month-End Close:
- Oversee and manage the month-end close process, ensuring preliminary financials are out on Day 2 and a complete 4-day close is achieved.
- Handle journal entries and adjusting entries as needed.
- Financial Operations:
- Learn and manage customer billing processes.
- Maintain fixed asset records.
- Prepare financials rolled into corporate systems, specifically OneStream.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes that are currently manual and require a high level of accuracy.
- Compliance and Audit:
- Ensure compliance with SOX regulations
- Participate in audit preparation and handle audit requests, particularly internal quarterly audits and annual peer review audits.
- Internal Controls and Improvements:
- Collaborate on internal controls and processes while respecting SOPs that are created externally.
- Continuously recommend and implement process improvements.
- Team Leadership and Management:
- Oversee the accounting department and manage staff to ensure all deadlines are met.
- Foster a supportive and efficient team environment.
- Interdepartmental Communication:
- Effectively explain financial concepts and processes to interdepartmental teams.
- Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Technical Skills:
- Strong proficiency in MS Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and SUMIFs.
- Full cycle ownership of the month-end close process, with a hands-on approach (reviewing the work of others will still be involved).
- Leadership:
- Proven experience managing an accounting team and meeting deadlines.
- Analytical Skills:
- Ability to analyze financial data, forecast trends, and identify areas for improvement.
- Compliance Knowledge:
- Understanding of SOX compliance requirements and internal control protocols.
- Preferred Skills (Nice to Have): Experience with Power BI for data visualization.
- Familiarity with Hyperion or OneStream financial systems.
- Soft Skills: Collaborative and professional demeanor – ability to lead without creating unnecessary conflict.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain financial processes to non-accounting teams clearly and concisely.
