Medical Records Coordinator

Overview:

The Medical Records Coordinator will coordinate and perform clerical duties associated with obtaining, completing, and maintaining patient medical records. This is a clinic-based position located in the Midtown area of Atlanta, GA (2140 Peachtree Road).

No weekends, holidays, or late evenings! General work hours are Mon - Fri: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

About the Role:

  • Expert knowledge of legal requirements related to release of records, maintaining the completed ROIs from patients, and overseeing the department’s processing of the medical records
  • Responsible for handling more complex records requests with support of legal/compliance regarding court requested records.
  • Sort, file and collates a variety of medical records and information such as progress notes, treatment plans, nursing/clinical notes, and discharge summaries into the patient’s medical record
  • Creates medical record files
  • Ensures medical records are completed and updated accurately in a timely manner
  • Research lost or missing records/information in accordance with established procedures
  • Answer requests for medical records from outside agencies and third-party sponsorship
  • Assists designated staff with locating a patient's medical records
  • Maintains accurate logs, card files, statistics, and information release forms
  • Performs medical record audits
  • Responsible for filing paperwork and reports
  • Safeguards medical records in compliance with HIPAA standards
  • Collaborate with the company's Compliance department to ensure Avita policy and procedure adherence
  • Additional responsibilities assigned as needed.

About You:

  • High school diploma or GED required, Associate's degree or higher preferred, especially in a health-related field
  • Advanced training and knowledge related to the processing of medical records.
  • Two years experience in a quantitative medical records review environment preferred
  • Maintains a high level of patient confidentiality
  • Demonstrates attention to detail and the ability to multi-task
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
  • Proficient in English, with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • MS Office computer skills with the ability to type 30+ wpm
  • Experience with eClinical Works preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
