Qualifications:

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
  • One (1) Year of Service Work Experience
  • Strong Customer Service and Training Skills

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • Valid Driver's License from a USA state.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Experience

Responsibilities:

Drive a vehicle to transport supplies and equipment to and from store to customers or between hospitals and other facilities.
  • Responsible for the delivery of all equipment in the patient¿s residence and/or healthcare facility in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for the collection of cash, checks and credit card information as instructed on delivery invoice.
  • Responsible for returning completed paperwork and money collected in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for the education of patient/caregivers in the proper use, safety and maintenance of equipment delivered. Assure equipment specific instruction sheets are left with patient/caregiver.
  • Responsible for compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC) policies and procedures on a routine basis.
  • Perform an environmental assessment to assure the best placement of equipment as it applies to use and patient safety. Assure equipment is set up in accordance with organization policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for informing the patient of all emergency numbers and procedures. Assure that HMH Medical Equipment and Infusion brochures with toll free numbers are left with patient at time of delivery. Inform the patient of the organization¿s availability commitment, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for oxygen emergencies.
  • Responsible for being on-call, attentive and prompt in any after-hours emergency deliveries. Assure that pages from service are responded to within 15 minutes and any emergency call(s)/deliveries are completed within 2 hours of page.
  • Assure infection control policy and procedures (universal precautions) are followed as it relates to the pick-up and delivery of equipment. Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) whenever applicable.
  • Responsible for inventory control of equipment and supplies on vehicles. Routinely stock extra equipment, such as oxygen concentrators and supplies, walkers, commodes and wheelchairs, on vehicles to assure prompt deliveries.
  • Identify quality issues and participate in the continuous quality improvement process as assigned.
  • Assure vehicle is driven in a safe and controlled manner. Assure all speed limits, traffic lights and signs are obeyed. Refuel, clean and check vehicle for required servicing and repairs.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMHs Organizational and Managerial competencies and standards of behavior.
  • Lifts a minimum of 75 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 75 lbs. and stands a minimum of 8 hours a day.
