What You'll Do:
As a Grocery Assistant Department Manager at Festival Foods, your responsibilities will include:
- Leadership & Team Development: Lead, support, teach, and reinforce Festival culture, guest service, and performance expectations to all Grocery associates.
- Staffing & Training: Collaborate with the Grocery Department Manager to maintain adequate staffing levels; assist with interviews, extend job offers, and ensure thorough training for new and current associates.
- Scheduling & Performance Management: Assist with weekly work schedule approvals and collaborate on associate performance reviews, addressing any policy violations with the HR Manager and Grocery Department Manager as needed.
- Operational Excellence: Contribute to store sales and profitability by effectively assisting with all aspects of Grocery Department operations, including labor, expenses, pricing, stock levels, merchandising, and guest service.
- Coordination: Work closely with receiving operations to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of products, maintaining optimal stock levels on the sales floor and in the back stock.
- Communication: Partner with leadership to conduct “Huddle Ups” for Grocery associates, sharing department or company news, changes, and achievements.
- Inventory & Stock Management: Maintain appropriate inventory levels, ensure accurate product pricing, and oversee the conditions of both the sales floor and back stock. Collaborate with stockers to ensure shelves are fully stocked and displays are appealing to guests.
- Guest Service: Provide exceptional guest service, assist with special orders, address concerns, and resolve issues to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Department Support: Assist all Grocery Department associates with daily responsibilities, contribute to the overall cleanliness of the department, and lead by example.
- Quality Control: Ensure all quality standards are met, including quantity expectations at 100% by 10 am and 5 pm.
- Honor Commitments: Regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule, and adequate notice to find a replacement for occasional absences
- Support the Team: Other duties as assigned.
To succeed as a Festival Foods Full-Time Grocery Assistant Department Manager, you should have:
- - High School education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2+ years of leadership experience (manager or lead) in retail, grocery, warehouse, or restaurant preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of the retail food business, especially non-perishable department operations, and strong merchandising skills.
- Familiarity with store operations and the ability to coordinate effectively with store and vendor teams.
- Ability to make timely and effective decisions, communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment, and manage a diverse team.
- Understanding of all safety requirements and company safety policies, with the ability to recognize and react to possible safety hazards.
- Proper training and knowledge of equipment such as hand jacks, balers, forklifts, hand trucks, and trash compactors.

- The associate must possess the ability to stand in place for long periods of time; walk in the store; bend, stoop and kneel regularly.
- Requires fine finger and broad manual dexterity, and eye-hand-foot coordination in order to operate equipment.
- The associate must have full range of upper body motion in order to lift stock.
- Requires the ability to perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time.
- Must possess functional sensory abilities in order to visually monitor the store, create attractive displays, and to operate equipment.
- The position requires the associate to lift up 50-60 pounds on an occasional basis.
Work Schedule:
The Grocery Assistant Department Manager is a full-time, hourly position. The work schedule may include mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
