Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled MRI Technologist to perform high-quality imaging procedures while ensuring patient safety and comfort. The ideal candidate will have experience operating MRI equipment, positioning patients, and following established protocols to produce diagnostic-quality images.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform MRI imaging procedures following clinical, technical, and administrative protocols.
- Operate and prepare specialized MRI equipment.
- Assist, prepare, and position patients for MRI procedures.
- Ensure diagnostic-quality imaging by applying technical judgment and following written protocols.
- Educate patients about procedures, imaging areas, and specific instructions.
- Review patient safety questionnaires and follow MRI safety precautions before scanning.
- Ensure patients are cleared before transitioning from zone 2 to zone 3.
- Assist in administering contrast media and loading power injectors using aseptic techniques.
- Position patients and MRI coils for optimal imaging.
- Scan and manage patient-related documents.
- Properly label all images according to department protocols.
- Assist physicians as needed during procedures.
- Evaluate radiographs for technical acceptability and ensure timely transmission to PACS.
- Maintain cleanliness of MRI rooms and equipment, including removing soiled linens.
- Ensure imaging rooms are stocked with necessary supplies.
- Accurately record patient tracking information in the Radiology Information System (IDX).
- Schedule exams in IDX as required.
- Ensure all completed studies are properly recorded in IDX.
- Report equipment issues or unsafe conditions to supervisors.
- Follow infection control policies to prevent the spread of infection.
- Attend required in-service training and professional development meetings.
- Maintain active licensure and certifications as required by law.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Proficiency in MRI imaging procedures and equipment operation
- Strong patient care and communication skills
- Ability to follow safety protocols and regulatory guidelines
- Experience in handling contrast media and aseptic techniques
Education & Certifications:
- Graduate of an AMA/J.C.E.R.T. accredited Radiologic Technology program
- Licensure: New York State License (L.R.T.), NY State IV Certification
- Certification: ARRT MRI Certification, BLS Certification
Language Requirement:
- English (Speaking, Reading, Writing)
Job Details:
- Hours Per Week: 37.5
- Hours Per Day: 7.5
- Days Per Week: 5
- Schedule: Sundays only, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
- Patient Load: 10-12 patients per day
